GI doctor's thoughts on messaging in fiber brands: Floura.

I love Jeni's Ice Cream.
I was excited to try Jeni Britton Bauer latest product. She has a great episode on How I Built This.
I got the variety pack.
The packaging looks nice. Like a premium product. Here are the claims on the inside paper of the box.
- "The energy flowing...steady energy throughout the day"
- "Your Gut Gets Stronger. Your microbiome flourishing, boosting immunity..."
- "You feel fully alive. More energy, better digestion, better skin, and mental clarity."
Can a fiber bar really make you feel all of that?
Say you get a prescription medication...Tamiflu for example, to treat the flu. Did the doctor who prescibe it say things like the above? "Tamiflu will crush the flu so good, your Chi energy will flow from where the flu left and increase your mental clarity".
No, the prescribing physician may say something like:
"Tamiflu can reduce flu symptom duration by about 1 day if started within 48 hours of symptom onset. However, it provides limited benefit in healthy adults and may cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, and, rarely, neuropsychiatric symptoms."
The doctor then lets the patient make an informed decision.
Due to minimal regulation, this information and evidence is, for the most part, no where to be found in the supplement/fiber industry. This opens the door to unrealistic messaging.
